Three things decide it: available shadow-free area, the structural condition of the roof, and your daytime consumption pattern. Under CAPEX you buy and own the system — every unit it generates is yours, and eligible businesses can claim accelerated depreciation on the asset. Under OPEX (also called a PPA or RESCO model) an investor owns the system on your roof and you buy the power from it at a contracted rate per unit, with no capital outlay. Full comparison here.

Under Section 32 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, eligible businesses can claim 40% accelerated depreciation on solar assets in the first year. Written-down value method; a reduced first-year rate applies where the plant operates fewer than 180 days in the commissioning year. No — and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Savings depend on your consumption pattern, your tariff category, system performance and future tariff orders. Any figure we put in a proposal is computed from your site's own data with the assumptions written out in full. If we can't substantiate a number, we don't print it.

Both, historically — and the current MERC multi-year tariff order actually directs reductions for several commercial and industrial categories over the control period. That's precisely why we don't sell on tariff panic. Owning generation gives you a known cost for your daytime load regardless of which way the next order goes.

It varies with system size, structural work and DISCOM approvals — net-metering applications are usually the longest pole. We give you an indicative schedule with the proposal and tell you which stages are within our control and which aren't.

Operations and maintenance. Panels lose output when they're dirty, inverters need monitoring, and connections need periodic checks. We stay on under an O&M arrangement with performance monitoring — the install is the start of the relationship, not the end of it.
